MONTRÉAL, July 29, 2026 — United on the Greens to End ALS is back for 2026 to rally Quebec’s golf community through an online auction of exclusive golf packages and special experiences, with proceeds going to ALS Quebec. Organized by ALS Quebec in partnership with Golf Québec, PGA of Québec, and l’ACGQ (Association des Clubs de Golf du Québec), the province-wide initiative raises funds to support families living with the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), including those within the golf community itself.
Among them is Roch Couture, a lifelong golfer who played nearly 100 rounds a year for decades, spent 30+ years volunteering for Golf Quebec, and walked the fairways as caddy to his son Éric Couture, who is now Executive Director of the PGA of Quebec. When Roch was diagnosed with ALS last year, Éric knew immediately where to turn based on his past involvement in the inaugural United on the Greens to End ALS event. The team at ALS Quebec was a source of knowledge and support for his family – and of hope for the future, represented by the research they fund.
It was golf itself that first told Roch something was seriously wrong. A man who knew his game intimately, he could feel it in the way his body was – and wasn’t – moving on the course. After more than a year of searching for answers, he was finally diagnosed with ALS, a life-limiting disease that profoundly changes the lives of not only the person diagnosed but their loved ones who must provide increasing care and support as the disease progresses, limiting the ability to move, eat, speak, and eventually breathe.
There are few effective treatments for ALS and no cure. Most people with ALS will live for two to five years after their diagnosis.
The United on the Greens to End ALS online auction is now open and runs until August 10, with golf packages and special experiences available to the highest bidder. Proceeds support all areas of ALS Quebec’s mission, from support and education to research and advocacy. Since its launch in 2024, when it was created in memory of Patrick Réhaume, a beloved member of Quebec’s golf community, the initiative has raised more than $250,000.

About Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
ALS is a neurodegenerative incurable fatal illness that destroys motor neurons. People with ALS gradually lose their mobility, and also their ability to talk, eat and eventually, breathe. Senses are not affected and 80% of people diagnosed die within two to five years.
