Palliative Care Conference by Anita Mehta, RN, PhD, CFT (Director of Education and Knowledge Exchange at the Montreal Institute for Palliative Care) and Véronique Després, SW (Director of Multidisciplinary Services at the St-Raphael Palliative Care Home and Day Centre)

The first part of this presentation, provided by Anita Mehta, addresses ALS and the long-term implications (including death). In addition, it addresses the concepts and philosophy central to Palliative Care and some common misconceptions. The application and implications of Palliative Care to ALS population is discussed. Finally, family caregiver implications of caring for a palliative patient will be explored followed by an overview of the services and facilities at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence. The second part of this presentation is provided by Véronique Després about the services offered to families at the St-Raphael Palliative Care home and Day Centre.
